FIFA 17’s four cover contenders – all individually known for their attacking style of play – are also global ambassadors for FIFA 17 and worked with EA SPORTS to influence gameplay and bring innovation to the way players think and move, physically interact with opponents, take set pieces, and use new techniques in attack. With less than three months left to the release of FIFA 17 worldwide, EA Sports has been rolling out the red carpet on a host of new features and gameplay improvements. Coupled with the first story mode in football history, the Journey, EA has improved the graphics with the introduction of the Frostbite engine. What’s next? FIFA 17 introduced a more refined way for forwards to get to the in front of the net for tip-ins, screens and such, but there wasn’t much you could do as a defender.
FIFA 17 looks to correct that by introducing all new animations and moves defenders can do when trying to shut down a guy trying to cause havoc in front his goalie such as stick lifts and little shoves. As with the previous dialogue options, the available responses didn’t have much depth to them; so that makes it a realistic simulation of an apprehensive footballer speaking to the media. From a single match, it’s impossible to tell if press conferences will become a tedious gimmick or if they will have a genuine influence on Hunter’s fable.
Of course, FIFA 17 isn’t all about one mode. All the favourites return, and in the face of stiff competition from PES 2016 – FIFA is no longer the undisputed king of football games – sweeping changes have been made across all facets of gameplay. PES fans will say passing under pressure is still too erratic, but it’s been tightened up a little, while retaining the flow FIFA fans prefer. Goalies are experiencing an even bigger change as they now better reflect the fact that some FIFA 17 netminders are a lot bigger than other and as such the sprawling, acrobatic saves aren’t necessary unless they’re caught out of position.
Instead, you’ll see more positional saves and animations that involve raising the shoulder to cover off the small gaps of the net. Both gameplay improvements appear to be clear signs that FIFA 17 is trying to more realistically capture the personality and brand of hockey that’s played today. So far we know that FIFA 17 is slated for release on September 27 in North America and in Europe and the rest of the world two days later on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The one and a half minute long video features some current big name stars like Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, Eden Hazard of Chelsea, Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester United’s young star Anthony Martial. For FIFA 17 Electronic Arts continues to make leaps with graphics thanks to improve hardware on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There are a number of Gameplay Features that have been rolled out, namely setpiece rewrite, physical play overhaul, and new attacking techniques.
