FIFA 16 was long in development even before FIFA 15 was released

The FIFA 16 release date is not official, but as summer arrives and soccer fans head to stadiums to watch their favorite teams play our eyes turn to the FIFA 16 release date that is certainly coming later this year. We know it is middle of 2015, but we want to share 5 things you need to know about the FIFA 16 release, including when the FIFA 16 release date might land and what you can expect from EA Sports this year. It’s still early 2015 and FIFA 15 just arrived as part of the EA Access vault so you can play it and other games for a grand total of $30 a year, which means that the new FIFA is on the way.

FIFA 16 is on the horizon (a release date of late September has unsurprisingly been set) and while its predecessor is undoubtedly a great game, there were a lot of elements that either were not included in the game or could have been included. The two previous FIFA games on next generation consoles have both been excellent, in terms of graphical capabilities, but some of the content and gameplay is not quite up to scratch. Whether this is down to the game designers just being plain lazy, or whether they are still working on improving the game is anyone’s guess, but improving the game is vital to maintain the popularity and success of the number one football based game franchise.

Although the feature is far from confirmed since EA has yet to make a statement regarding the game’s possible release dates on the gaming consoles and the PC, much more say something about a new story mode on the game, a recent listing for EA somehow suggests that the new element could be really in the works, notes Gotta Be Mobile. Better than its predecessor. It is expected that “FIFA 16” would be better than “FIFA 15” which should always be the case for game development, especially if the game is a franchise or a series. Although “FIFA 15” gave gamers a good experience with new timing and better team play, “FIFA 16” was already long in development even before “FIFA 15” was released to gaming consoles and the PC last year. This means that the development team spent more time finetuning and perfecting the game based on gamer feedbacks from its predecessors including “FIFA 15.”

Introduce Online Leagues. This has been a fan request for years now, but here it is again: Introduce online leagues. They are an amazing way to extend a sports game's lifespan. And as I discussed in a recent episode of the Press Row Podcast, they are an important way to hook the hardcore-the kind of fans who are tastemakers for the general populace. I recognize that online leagues aren't an easy thing to pitch these days, especially with the bulk of the work being put into the more popular FUT. They take a lot of work to build and maintain. The reward, though, is an unusually dedicated core who will follow their chosen game wherever it goes and talk it up to anyone who will listen.  Some fans have been claiming that EA should take a serious look at the balance of the game however, as apparently there are various outstanding issues in this area and the game should come with a revision of its player roster. The problem, according to those claims, is that some players are significantly underpowered compared to others, making them unattractive choices for gamers, and effectively limiting the pool of choices for a player. Of course, this is intentional in some cases, but according to those claims, it’s a concept taken a bit too far for some footballers.

EA Access is only available on the Xbox One and it is $5 a month or $30 for a year. It includes access to a vault of full games and early access to EA titles as well as discounts on DLC and digital games. We don't know that the FIFA 16 cover will look like yet as EA will make a cover athlete announcement later this year. FIFA 16 is mostly likely expected to be announced in E3 2015. So stay connected for more updates and news.
