FIFA 17 is a game bursting with content. From Match Day to Online Seasons, not to mention the new women's football tournament, there is plenty to entertain any football aficionado. However, there are two modes that attract most of our attention - Career and Ultimate Team. FUT is the most popular mode of the two these days. With that note of excitement hanging in the air, allow me a moment of clarity.
FIFA is a tough game to review. It's an aggregation of several years’ worth of features and modes, all of which are changed and updated to varying degrees with each iteration. Anyone who’s played FIFA, or PES, or any sports game will know, it’s impossible to really know how you feel about that game until you’ve played it for months; Loved it, hated it, loved it again, and then decided it’s, you know, alright for a game you’ve played for 300 hours.
However, the question on everyone’s mind as for now with all of this soccer around the sports world going on is when exactly the FIFA 17 release date is and how long do fans have to wait for the new installment. In order to announce new features with nice buzz words, EA tends to introduce new features every year, and it usually causes more problems. Instead of new ball controls and changes to the controls, what FIFA 17 really needs is polish. There are still too many physics errors, bad collision issues, and poor animations that need to be fixed, and that should take priority over anything else.
As of right now, we don’t know an exact FIFA 17 release date as it hasn’t yet been announced by EA Sports. Considering that the past two years have seen the game come out around September 25, though, you can safely assume that the FIFA 17 release date will be around that time this year as well! What kind of football will you practice during the season? A pressing game or counter-attack? Zonal defence or the offside trap? Look at the quality of your squad, compare it to the league you play in, consider this and take to the tactics and formations menu to define what your main formation will be for the season ahead.
The next step is cleaning out and setting up the squad. As a rule, we like a squad with 22 active players, joined by some promising youngsters that might be loaned to other clubs. This means you have two players for each position, and in case of an injury crisis, you can always bring back the players that are out on loan (in exchange for some money). After deciding which players you want to keep, lend or sell, you should look at solutions on the market. If you have an opponent attempting to mark your passing lanes, but players in space, try a simple chip.
Even if there’s a defender in attendance to contest a header, you have the advantage of being able to move into position a split-second before they do. For any possession-based game, the crossfield ball is a mainstay that you can’t do without. When play gets congested on one side of the pitch, use a full-power lofted pass to switch the ball to the opposite flank. With that in mind I intend to limit this review to a look at two crucial things that have changed in FIFA 17, which are: the addition of a new Draft mode within the extraordinarily successful FIFA Ultimate Team; and, well, everything.
