Over the last month we've extensively covered FIFA 16. In addition to a review, we explored Career Mode, published our take on FIFA Sliders to offer a setup that we think improves gameplay, and shared some useful general tips. To finish things off we decided to focus on the most popular mode, Ultimate Team Mode. This guide offers some basic advice to newcomers, some tips on how to make more gold coins, and offers a look at the big new feature, FUT Draft.
A mere poor selection of a player can ruin your squad’s chemistry and cost you the game. Unlike earlier installments, FIFA 16 puts huge emphasis on chemistry which is the purpose of the guide. In case you wish to maximize your team chemistry, you need to ensure that you let players play on their natural positions; in FIFA Ultimate Team. FUT ranks players in gold, silver and bronze cards.
Players ranked 0-64 will appear on bronze cards, 65-74 ranked players will appear on silver cards and players that fall in a rank between 75-99 are gold. This is a simple way for FIFA to present prospects for easy sorting. With all of the transactions required in FUT, being able to instantly identify your star players saves time you could spend on the field. Remember, if you buy packs of a specific color, only players in that color’s rank range will appear, so save your coins for better packs where you can.
Chemistry is based on a number of factors, all of which appear logical. Nationality, the clubs they play for and the leagues they play in all contribute. A lack of chemistry will see your squad suffer from poor communication and a breakdown of defense. You can save time by using the player preview tool, which will show you how a particular player will affect your starting line of of 11 players, rather than swapping players in and out to find the best chemistry.
The initial observation is the size of the players in comparison to their male counterparts. Understandably, they are on average much shorter and slighter. When it comes to the ability of the players in comparison to the men there is little to choose between them. With EA making it impossible for the two sexes to compete against one another, both in the demo and full game, it has allowed for the female players to be rated on their own scale.
USA World Cup winner Carli Lloyd is the stand-out player with a score of 91. In the men's game, only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi exceed this, with Luis Suarez on 90. More skillful players appear to have slightly greater control over the ball. Rotate the left stick and you can really see David Silva shift the position of the ball with the outside of his boot. Defenders also move more realistically and are less likely to win the ball in the air if they turn their back on it, meaning positioning is crucial to dealing with danger.
Sometimes it’s better to drop off and protect the space than challenge for every single ball. The performance certainly looks smooth on the Galaxy S6 Edge and the reviewer notes that FIFA 16 Ultimate Team offers “a more enjoyable experience.” When you’ve checked out this FIFA 16 Ultimate Team review of gameplay on the S6 Edge we’d like to hear your first thoughts on the new version of the game.
