Numerous FIFA 16 review from critics has already popped online
In recent years the debate on whether to play either FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer has been so one sided that reviews like this began to get more and more pointless as PES fell further and further behind cash-rich FIFA. This year, though, things are different and it surely can’t help but benefit both sides. Off the field FIFA has the slick interface and all the approved licences - it brilliantly recreates all 20 Premier League stadiums and now features the great addition of 12 women’s national teams. PES, however, still makes you play with Merseyside Red (Liverpool) and West Glamorgan City (Swansea) whilst the line-up selection menu looks like something from Italia’ 90.
FIFA 16 is of course the most recent entry in EA’s seminal footy franchise, and with a new year we don’t just get new rosters, but a bevy of new features. Additions to this year come in a variety of modes and injections of new life that provide a bit of a shakeup to the traditional formula, while retaining the magic that makes the FIFA franchise so popular year after year. Ultimate Team mode, the real longevity play of FIFA in recent years, gets a brand-new draft feature, allowing players short on time (and thankfully accommodating of review timelines) to get some high caliber talent quickly to make a great team to take either online or keep locally in a single player progression. Ultimate Team remains the long-term star of FIFA, as it provides an endless supply of motivation to increase chemistry and performance.
At its core though, FIFA Ultimate Team remains as FIFA’s major selling point, this year raising the game once again by introducing FIFA Ultimate Team Drafts, which for want of a better phrase, is frickin’ phenomenal. FIFA Ultimate Team Drafts is a simple fantasy football-like, draft mini-game at the core of FIFA Ultimate Team, where you choose every player in your squad from a number of randomly selected players and then pit them against other like-minded football fans. Win games, and you can earn Gold Packs and what not for your Ultimate Team. Lose, and you’re back to Ultimate Team scavenging coins for another valuable FUT Draft token so that you can do it all over again. It’s beautiful.
The first thing you’ll notice when jumping into a match in FIFA 16 is how much slower everything feels compared to last year. This reduction in speed allows you to take the time to consider your next move, and you’ll need to think carefully as the game isn’t as forgiving as it has been in the past. Pace abusers will be stopped in their tracks, and splitting the defense with a through ball or a mazy run is much harder to achieve, and rightly so. The addition of the new Passing With Purpose feature allows players to make direct, decisive passes across the park. However, I feel that there are still too many instances of ping-pong passing in the game, which is an issue that has resurfaced in the last few years.
The AI is smarter and your teammates will automatically cover gaps and stop players trying to score a goal better. There are new tackling fundamentals which include standing, sliding and fake tackles. The Goalkeepers have also been enhanced and are much smarter. They make fewer mistakes and make scoring a goal really challenging. Players can also do more precise passes and shots. Numerous FIFA 16 review from critics has already popped online and the annually released soccer video game has been well received by reviewers so far. A lot of small improvements as well as great new modes makes EA’s soccer game this year a worthy purchase, reviewers state. The PS4 version of Fifa 16 currently has an average score of 83 out of 100 based on 13 reviews in Metacritic while the Xbox One version has an average rating of 86 based on 26 reviews.
Players then open up Ultimate Team packs for each position on the field, selecting the players they want from each pack to fill out their team. These players are not yours to keep after Draft Mode, so they cannot be transferred or used in regular FUT games. Once a team has been built, players engage in a single elimination tournament, to a maximum of 4 games. The farther you go in the tournament against other online opponents, the more coins you will earn. This is not a huge change to FUT, but it is a new and interesting way to earn more coins. It also gives you a break from your regular FUT team and allows you to use a team of all-stars for a number of games.
