EA Sports’ FIFA series is a good solid game that entertains football fans and offers a constant stream of new feature, and the latest FIFA title, fifa 15 coins is no exception. As a football fan myself I enjoy the series, but FIFA 15 made me stop and ask, have the new features truly enhanced or changed my experience?
"We're now able to immerse you in the game and let the story of the match unfold based on new commentary, crowd activity, and the natural reactions of the players, which make every game unique." Versions of the game are also being tailored for prior generation Xbox and PlayStation consoles, along with the Nintendo Wii. The atmosphere can also get testy if Alonso and Koke have several clashes, but it does not affect the game - it just shows us frowning faces and players yelling at each other.
Every single blade of grass is defined and as the game goes on, the players' footsteps appear on the pitch as you slowly wear away at the virtual grounds crew's work. In the rain, your players kick up water and in the snow, you'll be thankful for high-visibility balls as your screen is covered by big, fluffy snowflakes. Kits pick up mud after a few slide tackles and the list of nice little touches goes on.
Regarding the pitch, the field will display wear and tear as the match progresses. Footprints leave marks in the grass, and you'll see splashes of water kicked up during rainfall. On top of that, corner flags will bend whenever the ball or player brushes into one, and the goal itself will rattle if said ball ricochets off a bar instead of sailing into the net; expect to see animated LED boards in each stadium.
There are added features in FIFA 15 that help you score the perfect goal. They have removed the option to create your own set piece – which felt ‘broken’ in FIFA 14 – and have added a more innovated way to attack the ball, and get the jump on the defence. Simply press down on the D-pad and a small option menu appears you can then select what you want to do, whether it is attacking the back post, making a run to the front post, or just crowding out the goal keeper making it near impossible for him to come and gather the ball from the set piece. I recommend practising set pieces as much as you can because they could be the difference between a W, or an L on your record when playing online.
Online still plays brilliant depending on the latency. Seasons and Be a Pro is still present which remains untouched from last year. Visually though, Fifa 15 is stunning. The players look identical to who they are supposed to portray, they get gradually dirty as the match progresses and the pitch degrades as time passes. Stadiums look excellently recreated with big crowds, camera crew and equipment, linesmen and even police and stewards. It’s easily the best looking football game available.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the squad-building mechanic, you can’t really form either your favorite team or an all-star cast of your favorite players and play with it since there’s a major element of randomness with it. The only way you can do that is to either luck out with your cards or use one of the Ultimate Team squads. It’s a bit of a step backwards compared to previous games, so it’s quite a sticking point.
We still want more control over our players. We're often unable to meet the ball because FIFA wants us to stand perfectly still. The same applies to passes that are much harder than the button-press would suggest. It's very frustrating to see the ball go to the player offside rather than stopping at the guy waiting who's onside - also known as the player the pass was intended for. There is also still a problem with players pretending to do a good run, then stopping a meter or two before they are offside. If they don't feint the run, they go too early. This is just as annoying.
