FIFA 16: Ultimate Team is a game that lives and dies by its monetization. Where previous entries in the series had a bevy of modes that soccer video games will have, this latest entry in EA's soccer series scraps them all for the Ultimate Team mode being the exclusive focus of the game. This is about building squads of players obtained through card packs, earning coins from matches, competing in seasons and tournaments, trying to get rewards and buy more card packs to build deeper and better teams in the quest to form the Ultimate Team.
Each time you create a Draft - which requires a small fee to enter - you're assigned a random set of players for each position on the team, before taking them onto the pitch in a series of matches in order to win rewards. This DLC introduces a new mode, providing players with a starter squad on the wrong end of the awesome scale and tasks them with building their -- wait for it -- ultimate team. This is done by playing games to win coins, which can be spent on randomized card packs, which include everything from new players to contracts to skill bonuses.
Besides the fact that this was my first experience with "Ultimate Team" -- the mode made its debut last year in 09 -- I was confused by the fact that "Ultimate Team" is really just FIFA's manager mode in a new skin. This is a brand new way to play," creative director Adam Shaikh said. "We believe it's probably the biggest game changer in FIFA Ultimate Team [FUT] in terms of how we play the game and what it'll do for you.
The Barclays PL is the most popular league in Ultimate Team 16. This means there is a lot of action going on in the transfer market. The Barclays PL defender trading method is a really easy method to earn a lot of coins. Go to the transfer market and select Quality > Gold, Position > Defenders, League > Barclays PL. In the pricing tab: Set Buy now max price to 400 of 450. After all, Ultimate Team players are not so different to one another. Some are better traders; some control the players better on the field, but everyone has to be good club managers.
This is an important step which will ensure that you’re able to sustain your club in the long run. While hiring managers, the only thing that you need to bear in mind is to reach the 50% as cheapest as possible. Slicing, placing and flicking balls past onlooking defenders is incredibly satisfying and within everybody's reach thanks to improved reaction times and smoother animations. The near-perfect on-field action is let down by occasional frame rate issues, although these dips generally only occur for a few moments after kick-off or when returning from a menu screen.
The first thing to do is try to get to know the game. Is there anyone who has ever won a chess match without knowing the rules? Probably not. FUT 16 is a game like any other and it has (many) rules. The truth is you don’t need to know all of them, but the more you know the better the chances are of you being even more successful. In the planning stage it is good to know your own expectations. It may seem unnecessary and even too theoretical but all of us should take a couple of minutes to idealize what we want for our club.
Do we want one or more teams? Is our objective to have the best players or do we want to try unknown ones? Are we going to stick with regular players or are we going to enhance them to the IF versions? Are we going to play with bronze, silver, gold or all of them? How much time will we play? Will we buy packs? How many coins will we need? For those who play or have played previous versions of FIFA Ultimate Team, there’s always that positive feeling that everything will start again. You’ll finally have the chance to start over from scratch, equally with others, knowing that you won’t make the same mistakes again. Everything now has to be perfect for you to be able to reach higher glory, sooner and long-lasting.
